About the Angel of Hope

The Christmas Box Angel of Hope memorial was inspired by the message of love and remembrance found in The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans.

Our Stow, Ohio Angel of Hope serves as a place where families can honor children who have passed away while finding comfort in a compassionate community that understands grief, healing, and remembrance.

The memorial garden provides a peaceful setting for reflection throughout the year and hosts annual remembrance gatherings that bring families together in support and hope.

Sara Ruble

Sara Ruble

Founder of the Christmas Box Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial  25 years

I have served the Angel of Hope for the full 25 years of its existence in Stow.

My aching heart needed some way for me to meet other grieving parents and seek out much needed healing. When I was asked to start a group in 1997 and facilitate meetings for parents at Redmon Funeral Home, I immediately said “Yes.”

A few years later I was shocked when I heard the words in my head “Build the children's memorial". I knew it was my son Scott, in Spirit. And so, the Angel Of Hope Children’s Memorial was created in 2001 with help from moms and dads in my parents group and the generous Stow community.

This memorial has created a peaceful place for parents to gather, heal, and honor our beloved children. To see the reality of this and how many families we have helped…as well as grow me as a person, as Scott’s mom, fills my heart up with love and gratitude!

Serves in memory of her grandson Kyle.

I've been with the Angel Committee since 2016.  I create the gift bags that each family receives at the brick dedication ceremony.   My second grandson was stillborn and I saw how soul-wrenching this was to my son and daughter in law.  When he found the Angel Committee, I decided I also wanted to be a part of bringing a bit of support to other families who have lost a child.
